Problem with VI editor. Could anybody tell me how to turn on the color?

I have been using VI editors for programing.
Recently, I have re-installed Fedora13 on my computer.
Since then, every text I open on VI is just black, instead of having different colors to indicate certain types.
Could anybody tell me how to turn this color again?
Thank you!

Are you sure you have the vim-common package installed? That's what supplies syntax highlighting (you need to run vim, not vi).

If you want to run vi instead of vim and still want to get syntax highlighting feature, you can add alias to your account...

add this line
Code:
alias vi='vim'
to your ~/.bashrc file...

good luck...
