Question "Unstable" packages on "stable" OS

Are there any efforts similar to Kubuntu's backports PPA where I can only use newer KDE and KDE apps on the current stable platform?

Reason: I'd like to keep base OS at stable level (F14) and get new[er] KOffice (2.3.0) components that are of particular interest to me. Obviously I can download packages manually etc, but it feels like last decade.

Alternative would be to add rawhide yum repo and try to install from there, but since it's the whole-system repo I could be risking the rest of the system.

What is the preferred approach for those cases? In Gentoo there are overlays for projects like KDE, in Ubuntu there are ppa's, what's Fedora's approach? http://spins.fedoraproject.org/kde doesn't provide any info on that subject.

Hi

For KDE, you can use the http://kde-redhat.sf.net repository run by Fedora KDE maintainers that has newer versions of KDE for older versions of Fedora
