Installing GCC on FC6

Can anyone help? I'm trying to install clamav on a machine running FC6, and in order to do install the clamav's tar.gz I need a c compiler to do the ./configure, make, and make install commands. But when i try to install the gcc rpm i have so many missing dependencies. I'm fairly new to this, and the pc has no internet access. So i can't do a yum install either... Any ideas?

Re: Installing GCC on FC6

Hello drklaughery:

And welcome to the forum.

FC6 is years past end-of-life, therefore, I must move this thread to the "EOL" section.

Good Luck,
V

Re: Installing GCC on FC6

The only thing I can think of if to get the DVD (not CD) version of F6 downloaded on another computer from one of the sites that still have the iso
http://iso.linuxquestions.org/fedora...ore-6/#x86_dvd
Then you can set up the computer to use the DVD as a repository (that's explained in serveral posts on this site) and use yum.

Re: Installing GCC on FC6

Just adding that all of the old Fedora ISO files from Fedora Core 1 to Fedora 12 are maintained by Fedora Project in the archives...

The release packages and final updates are there, too.

Re: Installing GCC on FC6

Would it be possible to put the dvd in the machine with fc6 on it and mount the cd and use that location for the repository?
