installed packages not visible to gui installer

Hello There,

over the last 2 days I have been experiencing a rather puzzling problem with the fedora gui installer not being able to see all the packages actually installed.

I have manually installed cyrus-sasl-plain-2.1.18-2.2, cyrus-sasl-md5-2.1.18-2.2, cyrus-sasl-plain-2.1.18-2.2 and libuser, however they do not seem to be detected by the fedora installer.

This is comes at a rather inconvenient time, just prior to the installation of the openldap server, which necessitates a gcc, which iteself depends on the the packages above-mentioned.

Your help, as always, is and will be appreciated.
thank you

luca

I can give you tip:
Forget the Add/Remove Packages tool and use
yum or apt. Both of them has a gui.
For yum see : http://fedorafaq.org/#installsoftware and http://fedoranews.org/tchung/gyum/
and for apt http://fedoraguide.org/contributors/...ic-how-to.html
