STOP RIGHT THERE and DO NOTHING until you install fedora 14 !!!!!!

fedora 12 is end of life in LESS than 2 weeks
then fedora 12 is DEAD and UNSUPPORTED

there are NO "drivers" to play music files

you need to install a music player ( one should be installed by default)
then the codeces NOT INSTALLED BY DEFAULT
Fedora has and NEVER will ship with proprietary non-free patent encumbered codec's
see Mjm's help/guide page

This is splitting hairs, but "end of life" and "DEAD" are different...

That said, you would be better off with the up-to-date version (14), as JohnVV says.

As well as MJM's excellent guide, try clicking "Fedora Set-Up Guides" at the top of this page for lots of helpful links and "how to"s relating to video drivers, audio and video codecs and the like. One of the links is for Dangermouse's Autoten script, which makes setting up almost all of those things painless.

Hope you enjoy using Fedora!

Also, there are "drivers" to play music files if you want to be able to hear them over your sound card. The "drivers" are installed for the sound card. The codecs are for the different types of music files.

Fedora has drivers for most of the sound cards in use, and installs the drivers for them when you install, or when it detects a soundcard.

Granted, it is done behind the scenes for you, and the drivers sometimes don't come with the bells and whistles that some of the windows drivers have, but they work..

Now the easiest way to install just about any codec you can possibly need is to use autoten written by dangermouse...
