I have a HP Pavillion dv2700 laptop with a
Authentec AES2501 fingerprint reader. I have installed
Fedora 13 x86_64 on my laptop using a live CD from a USB diskette (if any of that matters).
I was using my fingerprint reader without problem using Fedora's libfprint based fingerprint enrollment mechanism, until 3-4 days ago, when suddenly it stopped working. The only thing I remember having done in between the two consecutive tests of the fingerprint reader was a big update. So, I tried to correct everything myself, like degrading back some packages, but nothing works.
Then, I reinstalled Fedora 13x86_64 again using a live CD. The strange thing is that the scanner still does not work, while it was working previously.
lsusb shows that it is connected and
usb-devices shows that the scanner is there, and moreover, the scanner is working fine in Windows 7 on the same machine.
Whenever I issue the command
fprintd-enroll; it simply waits for me to scan the finger. As I scan, nothing happens and it keeps waiting. The same happens when I try to enroll fingerpint reader using the
System->Preferences->About Me->Enable Fingerprint Logon.
Please help.
