Irritants - Window Positions

Why can't all programs on Linux remember where they were when I closed them ?

this would stand out as an evolutionary step in PC Operating Systems...

and yes poopy pants I understand that application developers could help this, I mean even the stupid file browser in gnome and applications for OS,

simple evolutionary steps,
pls

Re: Irritants - Window Positions

Now there's something that has always irritated me too. I want it to appear where I last left it.

Re: Irritants - Window Positions

Yeah something that's always bugged me about Gnome is that a new window always opens off in a corner somewhere, even if no other windows are open. If I open something it's because I want to use it, and if I want to use it I want it front and center!

I got around that by installing devilspie, which makes everything open in the center, unless you modify it to ignore certain windows, apps or types. I don't think devilspie will remember a window's last position, but you can configure it so certain windows/window types will open in the same position on the same desktop each time.
