Configuring xorg.conf

I need to configure xorg.conf with the following string:
"1280x1024" 108.00 1280 1324 1436 1688 1024 1025 1028 1066 +hsync +vsync
but I don't know where to put this string in my file :

# Xorg configuration created by system-config-display

Section "ServerLayout"
Identifier "single head configuration"
Screen 0 "Screen0" 0 0
InputDevice "Mouse0" "CorePointer"
InputDevice "Keyboard0" "CoreKeyboard"
EndSection

Section "Files"

# RgbPath is the location of the RGB database. Note, this is the name of the
# file minus the extension (like ".txt" or ".db"). There is normally
# no need to change the default.
# Multiple FontPath entries are allowed (they are concatenated together)
# By default, Red Hat 6.0 and later now use a font server independent of
# the X server to render fonts.
RgbPath "/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/rgb"
FontPath "unix/:7100"
EndSection

Section "Module"
Load "dbe"
Load "extmod"
Load "fbdevhw"
Load "glx"
Load "record"
Load "freetype"
Load "type1"
Load "dri"
EndSection

Section "InputDevice"

# Option "Xleds" "1 2 3"
# To disable the XKEYBOARD extension, uncomment XkbDisable.
# Option "XkbDisable"
# To customise the XKB settings to suit your keyboard, modify the
# lines below (which are the defaults). For example, for a non-U.S.
# keyboard, you will probably want to use:
# Option "XkbModel" "pc102"
# If you have a US Microsoft Natural keyboard, you can use:
# Option "XkbModel" "microsoft"
#
# Then to change the language, change the Layout setting.
# For example, a german layout can be obtained with:
# Option "XkbLayout" "de"
# or:
# Option "XkbLayout" "de"
# Option "XkbVariant" "nodeadkeys"
#
# If you'd like to switch the positions of your capslock and
# control keys, use:
# Option "XkbOptions" "ctrl:swapcaps"
# Or if you just want both to be control, use:
# Option "XkbOptions" "ctrl:nocaps"
#

are you trying to edit your display? if so it has to go under SubSection "Display" but answer my question before you do it.

That looks garbled. Who told you to add this to xorg.conf, is it out of a manual? For what product?

The resolution "1280x1024" generally goes into the "Screen" section, the Modes line. It appears your file already contains a "1280x1024" mode. The Hsync and Vsync ratings go into the "Monitor" section. I don't see any items in your line that look like valid Hsync and Vsync values.

It's not making sense to me. More info please.

When I installed FC2 the screen in X server (as well as in games and during installation) was shifted a little bit left (my monitor and monitor settings are OK). I used xvidtune to correct the screen. But you know that xvidtune does not write to configuration files, so after rebooting the problem returned. Then I took right and wrong parameters from xvidtune.
Right: "1280x1024" 108.00 1280 1324 1436 1688 1024 1025 1028 1066 +hsync +vsync
Wrong: "1280x1024" 108.00 1280 1328 1440 1688 1024 1025 1028 1066 +hsync +vsync
I read that in XFree86 configuration file contains the string like this (so you can find it and correct). But Xorg configuration file differs from XFree86 one. I read manuals and understood that I can write this parameters in xorg.conf file. But I don’t quite understand the way I can do this (where to write this parameters and in what format (order)).

P.S. I think that this problem is a compatibility problem with my display adapter (drivers).
And sorry for my English …

Just thought that I would mention that one way to see if the xorg.conf file is doing what you want is to use the command
xdpyinfo
or
xdpyinfo | less
