How to set emacs color-theme from .emacs file?

I generally login as root. So followed http://www.emacswiki.org/ColorTheme this link and inserted that code in "/etc/skel/.emacs" file but, the color theme isnt being set when I start emacs. I've to set it manually every time from the emacs editor(Using M-x load-library,color-theme ... ). Can someone please help me out here..thanks

/etc/skel/.emacs is not evaluated on my system.
have you considered to put your stuff in ~/.emacs ?

Thanks..It worked.
Since I'm logging in as root, I didnt have ~/.emacs file. I created it and now it works fine.

The /etc/skel stuff is copied to every new account you create with system-config-users. It should never be evaluated from that directory.
