How to install an older version of the nvidia drivers from RPMfusion
Hi,
because the actual nvidia driver version (260.1912) does not work for my laptop (a Sony Vaio F11 series type, see bottom of page http://code.google.com/p/vaio-f11-li...ki/NVIDIASetup), i would like to install an older version (e.g. 256.53).
Up to now, I cannot figure out how to tell yum to pick up an older version.
Is there a way to do this (because kmod-nvidia is a meta package, there may be problems?), or do I have to install 256.53 manually (using the installer provided by nvidia) ?
cheers,
Frank

you do not state what videocard you have? an did you follow the Nvidia Guide that leigh123linux has done in Guides & Howto's section
BTW F11 is EOL so there will be no more updates to it, so if you want Help, i suggest you go to F13 if not F14

Frank, this thread needs to be moved to EOL (End Of Life) Versions. This won't affect the visibility of the thread.
As detox asked, have you used Leigh's NVidia guide?

Re: How to install an older version of the nvidia drivers from RPMfusion
No, theres a misunderstanding. F11 does not mean Fedora 11. F11 is the type of the laptop I have (Sony Vaio F series).
It has a GeForce GT 330M 1GB card inside. It worked well under Fedora 12 -- now I have installed Fedora 14. But as mentioned in the link I send with the original post, the laptop will not run with the acutal version of the nvidia drivers for a reason I don't know. So I look for a simple way to install an older version of the drivers, because at the moment I am stuck with the nouveau drivers without 3D acceleration.

Re: How to install an older version of the nvidia drivers from RPMfusion
Thanks.
I readthe guide from leigh123linux, but this doesn't help. The 260 driver does not work with my laptop. So the only solution for me is to install the 256.xx version -- and this is my question: what's the best way to do this?

Wish I could be of help Frank. Maybe Leigh will pop in here and offer a suggestion if he's around.
