[SOLVED] Fedora 14 LiveUSB on Asus 1215n

Hi folks,

Eager to try out the new Fedora 14 release I have my usb stick in hand and my new Asus 1215n to experiment with...

Problem is I can't get the iso on to the USB and booting regardless of the LiveUSB app I use to do the magic....

I've tried LinuxLive, PenDriveLinux, Unetbootin and Fedora's own LiveUSB Creator.

I have Jolicloud working through their version of Wubi... and haven't tried getting the USB going through that yet.

All I get when trying to boot from USB is (before ay Fedora loading screen)

SYSLINUX 3.81 2009-05-29 EBIOS Copyright (C) 1994-2009 H Peter Anvin et al

Have I got a problem in the iso file do you think?

Seems strange that no magic USB making app can boot off the image.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Also - on a slightly side note - any links to people playing with Fedora on the 1215n would be good too. I imagine there may be wifi AND ethernet issues out-of-the-box

Same problem here
Software: LiveUSB Creator on Windows.
Image: Fedora-14-i686-Live-Desktop.iso
USB Device: COWON D2+
Motherboard: ASUS M4N78-AM

I also forgot to mention I have the 32bit iso.

I imagine the 64bit version would run on my chip but I was just going to test with this...

@MaksimBurnin - Do you have the same hardware?

It might be a corrupted download...?

Anyone else to chip in?

@AFD well.... same manufacturer. Does 1215n uses nvidia chipset?

The 1215n has Nvidia ion2 as part of it's switchable graphics. Not sure who/what goes in to the rest of the mainboard...

Saying that Jolicloud is running ok under it's Wubi-type install.

It can't be that Ubuntu works but Fedora doesn't - right??

I don't think Wubi works like that...

The Jolicloud I have installed was done through the Express Method like this: http://www.jolicloud.com/guides/jolicloud-express

It is not truely installed on a partition but as a program in Windows I think (as with Wubi)

Do you think NO LiveUSB linux varients will boot on this hardware?!?

@AFD there was a lot of bugfixes in SYSLINUX since 3.81 version. i will try it on the another PC soon

My next task - to try to get my Android phone (Samsung Galaxy S) going a 3G modem as I am using now with PDANet under Window$ - Bluetooth DUN didn't work for me through the Fedora wizard despite plenty of tweaking...
