    World of Warcraft

Recently, my friend got me hooked on a private server for world of warcraft. I have wine and I play Guild Wars also perfectly with it. I went to the play on linux site, downloaded and installed it, but its not in my menu. Then, when I get past the download for World of Warcraft, I press install then it says "Wine may not be able to Handle This" or something. HELP!

    Re: World of Warcraft

Using WoW with wine has gotten people banned because it resembles an environment similar to bot programs. If you want to run WoW properly you have to use the endorsed Cedega environment:
    http://www.cedega.com//
    http://www.cedega.com/gamesdb/games/...l?game_id=5133

However if you want to chuck away perfectly good money and eventually get banned, continue onto here:

    Re: World of Warcraft

Well, one thing is that I don't have hardware support for my ATI x700 graphics card.
But what is really cool is that I am able to play Guild Wars perfectly with almost no
setbacks. I will try downloading it again, and take a screenshot if anything happens.

    Thanks

Ok, this is really weird, because I got past the Language Selection screen, and the location of install screen. Right now it is Downloading perfectly! Maybe just before it was a bad download?

I may be insterrested to know if Cataclysm will work on Wine/Cedega, I'm OK with running it on Windows though but would be cool to be able to play within Linux too.

    Re: World of Warcraft

I installed WoW Cataclysm. I have the Blizzard Downloader working fine in wine. I got the entire game downloaded. When I go to play the game, it will play the beginning cinema and then give an error.

Any advice? I have an Asus UL80j, Intel i3 core 1.2 Ghz, 4GB DDR3 RAM, 1GB Nvidia 310m graphics card. of course this works perfectly fine in windows, I'm sure I just need some more configuration or installation. Thanks guys anything is much appreciated.

    Re: World of Warcraft

    Hi,
Did you get the nvidia driver installed? To check in the CL:
    $glxinfo | grep rendering
    It should return something like
    direct rendering: Yes

If it says No just follow Lieghs how to here:
    http://forums.fedoraforum.org/showthread.php?t=204752

The first time you run Wow you may want to include the OpenGL switch:
    $wine ~/path/to/Launcher.exe -opengl

After you run wow once it writes a config.WTF file then you can add the line:
    SET gxAPI "OpenGL".

If you run into further trouble you can check on linux wow wikki they have the solutions to many common problems:
    http://www.wowwiki.com/World_of_Warc...nality_on_Wine

If you have any more questions post back here

    Re: World of Warcraft

Yeah, my nvidia driver is installed. I feel like a noob for saying this, but I can't get WoW to work in Cedega. When I hit the link to install a game, i try to have it recognize my drive and it wont allow that to go through. Plus whenever I am on the Cedega website and log in, it says trial. How do I upgrade that, is it free or how much is it?

    What?
Why would this cause a ban?
What i mean, in what way is it diffrent from your other 2 options?
Just because of "playonlinux" or the "padsp" part?

Anyways, happy to hear Cataclysm is running with linux.

    -------------

The DvD installation works just fine, but once it reached 100% the launcher trys to download tools.
Resulting in a common "Windows Fatal Error".

Any idea how to solve this?
