Kernel Source not Installed

I was wandering if anyone knows why the kernel source code is not installed be defualt? I did a custom install and selected the everything option, yet I still have to manually install the kernel-sourcecode package.

Is it some kind of security policy to not include it so a script wouldn't be able to compile infectious modules I only assumed it would install everything becuase I chose the install everything option. Silly me

If "Everything" would also include the sources, then happy days. I guess that would make about 12GB of space.

Sources are sources are sources and binaries are binaries are binaries. That's why! :-)

I always wondered why someone would install "everything", so maybe you can tell me: Why did you install "everything"?

It does seem strange to not have the sources installed like that, I thought the soures were included with the Kernel developement package options.

I choose everything becuase I am running fc3t3 and the developers suggested it would be best to install everything to test everything. I also do it to help ameliorate the dependency problem. However, this issue occurs on fc2 and the rest as well.

I kernel source should be included as an exception becuase not everyone has kernel supported hardware, so they need to compile their own modules to get things to work like madwifi, nvidia, ati, raid controllers, etc. Installing proprietary modules or including the ntfs support is very common, so one would think it would be installed.
