Texlive Source in Hong Kong

Is there anyone whose residence is in Hong Kong? I am trying to installing TeXLive 2010 through web-installation, and the source is in ftp://ftp.comp.hkbu.edu.hk, but the download speed is too low, sometime it even quit installation.
Any friend in HK met the problem? Can I use some command to force the installing program to use another souce?
Thank you.

Re: Texlive Source in Hong Kong

Hi, Lin,

Although you have probably thought of this already, a list of CTAN mirrors is available here (including several in China):

http://www.ctan.org/tex-archive/CTAN.sites

I am not clear whether you are using TeX Live's small network installer package or attempting to download the large .iso file. If you are using the network installer package, there is a discussion thread below which includes some examples of how you could structure a command to map to a different mirror:

http://tinyurl.com/27ap5tg
"tl09 release status: coming up." 22 Sept. 2009.

(I have never tried this myself, so I am unsure at what point you need to issue this command).

Another example where it appears that a specific mirror is being targeted:

http://www.tug.org/pipermail/tex-liv...er/022949.html

If neither of these works for you, it is possible to download the large .iso file via BitTorrent:

http://www.tug.org/texlive/acquire-iso.html

HTH and Good luck,
=david

Hi, Lin,

You're welcome. I'm glad to hear that rsync worked for you and that you have a TeX Live 2010 installation on your system. Happy TeXing!
