Re: CPU Scaling Monitor - UNRoot

As root, edit the file

Code:
/usr/share/polkit-1/actions/org.gnome.cpufreqselector.policy
and change the <allow_active> tag (in defaults section at end of file) from "auth_admin_keep" to "yes", like this

Code:
  <allow_active>auth_admin_keep</allow_active>
---
  <allow_active>yes</allow_active>
Save the file and it should take effect immediately.

Re: CPU Scaling Monitor - UNRoot

I was looking for a solution to this same issue, googled it and this was first result. It works for me, thank you buddha.

But why is there no GUI for this and whos bright idea was it to require a root password to change the CPU speed in the first place? I don't need a root password to pull the power cord out of my computer, take a sledge hammer to it or pop it in the oven, so why this?!

Re: CPU Scaling Monitor - UNRoot

If it is being used simultaneously by multiple users (i.e. remotely), then you don't want some dipstick to be able to set the CPU slow and affect everybody else.
