Sound problems fixed???

Using Gentoo 2004.2 which comes with GNOME 2.6.2 and kernel 2.6.8, I easily encountered problems where two programs could not access the sound card at teh same time.

Somewhere on this board, I found out that even Fedora Core 2 has the same problem and you have to edit asound.conf by hand to add entries to it to fix this problem.

I was wondering if FC3 will come preconfigured with such options so that the user does not have to do this by hand.

No, sadly it doesn't. I am not sure why Perhaps doing so would cause conflicts with ceratin drivers. Then again the developers are smart enough to just write a script to enable that for cards its know to work on and that don't have hardware mixing. Another question for the bugzilla.
