Perfect Electronic World
This is something I really would like to have...
I'm a lazy person, and I don't like having to do things over and over. I wish there was a place to set a time you want to wake up, and have the TV come on 15 minutes before that time, and have the alarm clock ring at that time. My TV is really annoying, because you have to set it to come on every single night for the next morning. It gets old. I probably would have never come up with this idea if I hadn't been such a computer person. I've gotten used to doing something hard once, and then it being easy to do. Anyone ever wish they could do this?

yeah, i guess it would get pretty boring. Patterns are always good, but it's also good to break the pattern every once in a while (and fun).

And have all your appliances and entertainment system on a networked control system. Set your routine times on a central control panel and automate everything.
And everything would always be on the right time, because it syncs with the local NTP server.
With x10 devices the first one may even be possible now.

You can do this, but only with high-end (and high $$$) equipment. For basic controls (like lights and on/off applicances), X10 is really great. I've been using X10 devices and controllers for over 20 years and I do have a "central control" for the timed events, handles remote events, and even a bit of a macro language that I wrote myself (in Java).
In fact, here's a snapshot of my remote control running on the desktop (yes, everything's off at the momen):
