More yum problems...

I did an update a few minutes ago and now I get this:
File "/usr/bin/yum", line 6, in ?
import yummain
ImportError: No module named yummain

This happens no matter what option I try. I went to the mirror and re-downloaded and package directly (yum-2.1.8-1.noarchrpm) and reinstalled it: rpm -Uvh yum-2.1.8-1.noarch.rpm --replacepkgs

Unfortunately either the package is broken or some dependency is. Any suggestions?

what about the /etc/yum.conf file, did you try to replace it. Here's a link for the file:

No, there's no problem with my yum.conf. In fact, unlike normal (for me) so far in this fresh installation of Core 3 (plus updates) I haven't modified any setting or package or config file. I finished installing Core 3 and have just been running the updates. I ran a batch on Friday and then started a batch today when I came in Monday morning. The first batch went fine. Then I ran another and a another small list came up including a new yum. I installed it and now yum is completely broken. I can't even execute "yum --help" without getting that error.

My very short term solution was to erase yum completely and install the Core 2 version: yum-2.0.7-1.1.noarch.rpm. It's working fine right now.

Ah... the developer of yum just chimed in on the fedora test list and acknowledged the breakage and announced a 2.1.9 will be out very soon.

If you can't wait for tomorrows rawhide, here's the updated package: http://people.redhat.com/~katzj/yum-2.1.9-1.noarch.rpm
