Re: Hindi fonts

Do a search on the forums (just for something like Hindi) and you should find a thread or two about it. You will have to add the support, and also an input manager--if you've done a default install, the input manager may already be there, it's called ibus.

I'm not familiar with Hindi, so can't be of much more help than that., but the basic steps are to run the input manager with ibus-setup, then, once you add the fonts, choosing Hindi as the input language--you can then get it to work with ctl+space.

Sorry I can't be of much more help, but as I mentioned, I don't use Hindi, so am not sure of the specifics beyond that.

Re: Hindi fonts

The repository has the font lohit-fonts-hindi and you can find more at http://www.unifont.org/fontguide/
Install your font in ~/.fonts
In Open Office, click on Tools - Options - Language settings; then mark the box "Enabled for complex text layout" and select Hindi in the CTL menu.
