CD Ripping software?

When I used to use Ubuntu. I had the choice between RipOff or ripperX. What's available in the fedora repos?

Thanks.

Sound Juicer seems a popular one. You can also use k3b.

yum search "cd ripper" will give you some more choices too.

Re: CD Ripping software?

I'm not sure what you mean by Gnome Shell, but I use the version of Gnome that came with Fedora 13.

Perhaps you could be helpful in posting some links about this Gnome 3. I would appreciate it.

Thanks.

Re: CD Ripping software?

I use vbocopy. Its a command line program but does a great job of ripping. Doesnt do the menus and that but saves the movie from the dvd as an mpeg2.

yum it and try it out. Just type in "vbocopy" in the directory you want to save the movies in and let it rip!

Re: CD Ripping software?

new features integrated into the file browser of Fedora 13 make tracks on a CD show up as numbered wav files...

...just copy and paste... then 'lame -V2'

This works for most cds. I listen to a lot of reissued, remastered music from the 60s and 70s (real music ) and unfortunately a lot of those are copy-protected, so a ripper is required.

Legal Note: The copy-protection schemes are supposed to let you make one copy for backup purposes, but I have yet to find a protected cd where this works. After the second or third track the cd player starts to grind and the copied file is mangled.
