How to properly format an Advanced Format WD drive (WD*EARS) in NTFS to use in F12 ?

I've been reading a lot about sector alignment and performance problems associated with using Advanced Format WD drives (WD10EARS, WD15EARS and WD20EARS).

I want to format WD20EARS in NTFS and use in Fedora 12.

What do I need to do in order to avoid these performance problems?
