Now getting tom is not in sudoers file..

Using a new install of Fedora 13 beta 2 which has all updates applied as of 4/24/10
When I 1st started using system doing sudo - gave me root no problem,, now I get tom (that's me) not in sudoers file?? I tried using the graphical user manger and added my self to the root group (not my preference) but that did not work? I saw instructions for using the special edit for the sudoers file but a) I cannot get root access.. and be the entries dod not appear to be there so I don't want to muck things up, without guidance

And now it has reverted to the bad behavior, don't know why,,but I cannot get root,, needed to edit the Yum file for the key validation issue...Help!

Sudo isn't set up in Fedora if you wish to use it you need to edit the file as you seem to have discovered. To perform any task that requires root access type su (or su -).

Re: Now getting tom is not in sudoers file..

It happens a lot. (That is, coming from Ubuntu and being surprised by it not being enabled by default.)

You might find http://home.roadrunner.com/~computer...su/rhsudo.html useful.

It seems as if sudo is becoming the norm. Both Fedora, and (judging from the free Beta) RH 6 are now putting the various /sbin files in all users' paths, which is more common for a distribution using sudo.
