eth0 failed to activate

I just installed FC2 and all seems well except that I can't get eth0 to activate. The network card status is OK in Network Config window.

I get "Determining IP information for eth0... failed; no link present. Check cable?" on boot and when trying to activate in Network Device Control.

I've tried switching the cable and I know the network jack isn't the problem.

The NIC is a 3com 3c905C-TX. I'm wondering if there's any issues with this NIC.

Any help is appreciated.

There is a bug in the driver your NIC. Switch off kudzu and it should work fine.

But I don't know how to switch off kudzu!!

To turn of kudzu,

System Settings -> Server Settings -> Services

Scroll down to kudzu in the list, uncheck the box and click stop. Then File -> Save Changes

Or simply, at the CLI (Right click on desktop -> Open terminal) and enter the following commands in order. You will need to give the root password after the first command and press Ctrl-d to logout after the last command is finished.

chkconfig kudzu off
service kudzu stop
