problems with plymouth
Booting with plymouth enabled (having "rhgb" in the /boot/grub/menu.lst) fails on my notebook. Or, to be more exactly, it boots up fine, but it stops when the graphical boot screen is done (light blue background, fedora-logo on top). GDM does not load and I cant' switch to a VT. The only thing that works is pressing ctrl+alt+del (but the machine needs about 5 seconds to react to that).
Removing the "rhgb" part from the /boot/grub/menu.lst (or pressing esc during the first seconds of booting) "solves" the problem. Is there a way to find out why my graphical boot thing failed and how can I fix it?
edit: driver is nouveau btw, and my Xorg.0.log.old says
Code:
Fatal server error:
[ 208.792] xf86OpenConsole: VT_WAITACTIVE failed: Interrupted system call

Re: problems with plymouth
I know it's a known problem and they are working on it... I had the same problem till yesterday, but the latest updates seems to have fixed it.
Try to update your system (with updates-testing repo enabled).

Re: problems with plymouth
My system is up to date, but it's still not working.
After a lot of searching I found the bug related to this. If anyone is interested in this, click here.

Re: problems with plymouth
it was identified and fixed a while back, but I noticed yesterday that for some reason the repos had the old, broken gdm package again, not the fixed one. I think this may have been corrected today.
Anyway, what you need to avoid this bug is gdm-2.29.92-6.fc13.x86_64 or later, so if you have -5 or earlier, find it in repos or on Koji and update.

Re: problems with plymouth
Thanks for the infos
I have 2.29.92-5.fc13.x86_64 installed, so i downloaded 2.29.92-6.fc13.x86_64 from koji, but it has a LOT of i686 dependencies...is that supposed to be so? Same thing with 2.30 btw.

Re: problems with plymouth
no, that's not right. What happens if you try just installing it with rpm -Uvh ?

Re: problems with plymouth
Yap, that works. Strange that yum can't handle these packages correctly though.
Oh, if someone else wants to know: You have to install gdm and gdm-plugin-fingerprint at once, because they depend on each other.
Code:
rpm -Uvh gdm-plugin-fingerprint-2.30.0-1.fc13.x86_64.rpm gdm-2.30.0-1.fc13.x86_64.rpm
Thanks a lot for your ideas AdamW =)
