Question is abrt working?

hi guys i just noticed that when a program crashes on my laptop the bug reporter doesn't do anything
i did a few litle tests example:
on my home pc when i log into a particular game server on the internet open arena crashes and the little button appears in the top right in gnome
when i do the same thing on my laptop the program crashes with no bug report abrt doesn't do anything there's no button, i tried getting it to crash by opening the same file on a disk with dragon player and sure enough it crashed still no alerts from abrt,
ive recently updated my laptop so on my pc ive decided to hold of on the updates for now
i particularly started to notice it failing just after i reinstalled it

so my main question is is there a proven way to test abrt?

http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Features/ABRT#How_To_Test

* Install ABRT with C/C++ language plugin.
* Run some app. This app has to be written in C or C++.
* kill -s SIGSEGV <pid of app>
* See if ABRT detects it.
