No sound support under wine in F 11

I'm trying to get the bizarre game Plants vs Zombies running under Wine on my F 11 desktop. It took a registry tweak to get it to run, and then, only in a window, not full screen. Alas, the sound doesn't work. Checking in Wine Configuration, Pulse Audio is selected, but it fails the test, as do all of the other options. It's not a make or break issue here, but I'd like to get it working right. Any suggestions?

I know this isn't helpful, but if you don't hear the songs in that game, you're not missing much.

I know, but it's a matter of Getting Things Right. I might need sound for something else.

Re: No sound support under wine in F 11

I did a little research over at Wine HQ. They've known since '07 that PulseAudio doesn't work well with Wine, and they don't seem to care very much; at least they're not interested in doing anything about it. However, there's a command line utility as part of PulseAudio called pasuspender that shuts PulseAudio down until it exits. All you do is put pasuspender at the front of the launcher's command line and Bob's your uncle.
