Installing Fedora 11

The disk image file attached to this post contains the anaconda updates which allow Fedora 11 to be installed on OldWorld Power Macintosh machines. In particular, the file contains modified versions of platform.py and booty/ppc.py.
A dedicated wiki page explains how to use files of this kind.

Post-installation issues:
  • Mac OS won't boot. Start up from the Mac OS CD-ROM and use Drive Setup to update the hard disk driver.
  • yaboot has been installed. Remove /etc/yaboot.conf and /boot/yaboot.
  • kernel-smp has been installed. Boot into rescue mode, install kernel and remove kernel-smp.
  • I don't know how to copy /boot/vmlinuz and /boot/initrd to the HFS partition containing the boot loader. Boot into rescue mode and use the following commands: hmount, hcopy and humount.
