Guest Additions Problem After Upgrade
Hello,
I am new to Fedora and Linux.
I have installed Fedora 12 on virtual box and installed Guest Additions.
Later I did upgrade Fedora updates and noticed that my Guest Additions features were missing like Seamless mode, shared folders etc. Hence I had install Guest Additions again.
So every time when I do Fedora updations, do I need to re-install Guest Additions or am I missing something very obvious?
Any help is highly appreciable.
Regards

I believe anytime the kernel is updated you will need to re-install the Virtualbox guest additions. So, you will not have to re-install them for every update, just some.

Thanks for the reply.
Is there anyway I could automate this process?
E.g. When I do a kernel update, I would like to install guest additions as well.

When should I execute the above, after installing new kernel?
Does this automatically install guest additions?

Whenever you want.

Yes and No.
Yes=It automatically builds kernel modules for the lifespan of Virtualbox-versionX - for every newer kernel you might install (and presumably it's supported by your current Vbox build.)
No= For every Virtualbox-versionX+1 you'll have to manually install the newer guest additions - once. Then DKMS takes over...

Re: Guest Additions Problem After Upgrade
I did the above after kernel update and rebooted, however guest additions doesn't seems to be working. Do I need to install guest additions again?
I did not update Virtual box at all, only kernel update.

Re: Guest Additions Problem After Upgrade
Yes, try installing it again if you have dkms installed. Also, get the rest of the updates
Code:
su -
yum update --enablerepo=u*g

You mean I install Guest Additions from CD again?
I was thinking by doing the following, I do not need to install guest additions again.
Correct me if I am wrong.
Thanks for the help
