OK ,we are having troubles getting going here.
If you have someone who could help you in person would be best for you.
Maybe then you can post some better output.
One more try on something here
The default directory for apache is /var/www/html
so now type
ls -l /var/www/html
and post the output

Start the machine over and login to single-user mode.
Make the necessary corrections. Add yourself to the group in /etc/group and deny access to all parts of the server except the site(s).

Ok this is open for anyone who is feeling like helping a noob out. Here in Japan the nearest Red Hat support is in Tokyo. I am in Hokkaido so that means they have to fly out to help.
I want to know if anyone is willing to walk-me through on Skype. I will pay $100.00 to the person who helps me paypal account.

Is this a server you operate personally for your own needs, or have you been put in charge of a production server at your place of work?
Also, I'm sure I'm missing it, but did you respond to this yet:

Yeah, he said they haven't paid anyone.
Please post the output of this command
(You can open a terminal from the Applications=>System Tools menu. I'm guessing you have a Gnome desktop.)
Type the command
uname -r
and post the output.
Also, does skype need to have cam/sound support in your case, or just text typing?
If typing, does it need Japanese support?
(I fear I don't have time to walk you through it step by step, and if I did, I couldn't accept the $100, IMHO, it's usually quite simple. 100 yen might be Ok.
(for others, that's about $1.00 US)

Oh. Sorry I missed where the OP said they're through paying. I'm still not seeing it but I'm sleepy and in need of a nap so I guess I missed it again after rereading the thread. I'll take your word for it. I saw the OP said that Redhat couldn't fly out, but I always though Redhat had... uhh, call centers.
In any event, I'd comment about what's going on in this thread but it'd come across as cruel and "unwelcoming." So I'll just go take that nap.

By the way, RHEL is closer to CentOS. You might want to post there
http://wiki.centos.org/HowTos/Skype
might also be useful. I believe there is also a Japanese forum, though from your writing, I suspect you're a native English speaker. The Japanese CentOS mailing list.

Hrrm, judging from the last thread I find on CentOS forums, the Japanese forum isn't ready yet. I can doublecheck that for you if you wish.

Thanks. I will try what you said smr54.
I know this is probably a simple task, but for me it is a problem and I am losing money each day the server is down that is why I offered 100$. I will post the info in about 20 min.
I dont need cam for skype unless someone wants to do it that way. Just phone to phone is OK. If you dont have skype and live in the US I could call you for free from skype in Japan. And English is ok.

Naru hodo. I'm a bit confused, here. You said you can skype me, but what you want is to install skype.
What I was trying to determine was whether you had a 64 bit or 32 bit kernel, as it's slightly more complex with 64 bit. If the kernel is that old (2.4.x is old), it's probably 32 bit.
I would suggest following the instructions on the CentOS wiki. (There are also native Japanese speakers on the English CentOS forums.)

Naru hodo.... lol You speak Japanese? Ok I have skype. That is not a problem. I am a native English speaker and can also speak Japanese, but the Japanese Redhat support likes to suck you dry charging outrageous prices. I figured this was an old server. I mean I can barely read what is on the screen because once redhat starts up the screen doesnt stop flickering.. If you would be willing to bare with me on Skype for about 30 minutes I might be able to get things moving. And there is no way I am paying 100 yen for your help. I insist on 10,000 Yen.
