Lotus Notes 8.5

The RPM installs but when I go to run the application, the first time I get a agreement that loads in the shell, then the next time it's like clicking the start menu in windows (or any menu in windows for that matter).....nothing ever happens.

"Please don't reply I installed it and it worked fine for me" if that's the case EXACTLY how did you install it? Did you have to install any additional packages? Did you accept every default when installing Fedora itself"

Thank you for your time!

Re: Lotus Notes 8.5

I have the same question as yours after I press "1" to accept the agreement.
Now the launcher doesn't do anything after click.
So what can WE do?

Re: Lotus Notes 8.5

The standard procedure in cases like this is to open a terminal window, and (attempt to) start the application from CLI. Type in the desired command (which in this case I have no way of knowing off-hand), press <ENTER> key, observe output, copy-and-paste full [error] output if unclear.

Re: Lotus Notes 8.5

Do you mean this?
[XXXX@XX notes]$ notes
bash: notes: command not found

If I ran the incorrect command, which one should I type in the CLI?

Re: Lotus Notes 8.5

As I wrote: I haven't got a clue as to what the command might be. Obviously, 'notes' isn't it. It might help if you posted the source of the RPM for this software. Or, try to determine the correct command yourself by looking through the output of:
rpm -ql <insert-name-of-Lotus-Notes-RPM> | grep bin

You should get a (hopefully brief) list of possibilities. Execute (or attempt to execute) the one(s) that looks obvious. Observe output, and report in full error(s).

Re: Lotus Notes 8.5

Output lines truncated - missing info. Fedora release and ARCH? Lotus Notes version-release and how installed? From where came the Lotus Notes software?

Do you have the "official" Oracle (Sun) Java, or the default openjdk (or whatever it's now called)?

Re: Lotus Notes 8.5

Yeah that's because there's more lines of errors than vBulletin will allow!

It's Fedora 14 x86_64 and the default java. Of course the IBM notes RPM's don't properly depsolve which is where all this mess begins. If they would just say "I require X, Y, and Z" then we'd all be fine.

I'm going to try 8.5.1 and see if that is any better.

Re: Lotus Notes 8.5

Perhaps you are missing the 32-bit packages that it needs? Also: looks like there a "fixes" available - installed? You might also try installing the "official" JRE: http://www.mjmwired.net/resources/mj...-f14.html#java

Re: Lotus Notes 8.5

Looks like 8.5.1 has proper RPMs.. It pulled in all the 32bit libs it needed and started up! It remains to be seen if I can get all my databases to load properly, but, one step at a time...

Well, it almost works. Some stuff is populated properly while other stuff is not. It's very strange. It says my mail file does not exist. It's complaining about "file does not exist" in various locations, and most disturbingly, the basic preferences and location preferences dialogs are blank. I'm not sure where to go from here.
