Question Sandisk Compact Flash Reader won´t unmount.

Would really appreciate some help on this one!

I´ve got a Sandisk SDDR-31 single card reader. Running FC2. Mounting and pulling the files off my Compact Flash presents no problem.

The Problem: UNMOUNTING the device produces an error statement

umount: /mnt/flash: device is busy
umount: /mnt/flash: device is busy

It tells me this twice like I wasn´t even here to read it the first time!

I looked all over the net and this happens all the time for a variety of reasons, but I read the following on a post at
http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...2003/08/2/7335
¨.....a service called 'fam' is still running, and hence you cannot umount the device because some program is still using it. This is apparently a bug in the Nautilus filemanager, documented on RedHat's Bugzilla site.

fam stands for File Alteration Monitor, and it monitors changes made to filesystems. Most likely you cannot umount the device because this service didn't exit quietly. To my knowledge, there is no patch for this problem yet.....¨

Anyone figure out how to get around ´fam´ yet? Man I´d love to solve this one. Fam is the only thing standing between me and all my graphics programmes on linux that can enable me to wipe windows off forever!

Typically using the -l lazy option works for busy filesystems and removes the mount first and cleans up later:
Code:
umount -l /mnt/flash
