Question Howto set a shortcut to an application on KDE desktop?

This should be simple, but I just don't see it. KDE 4 desktop.

I have an application located in /usr/Kompozer that I'd like to add a shortcut to on my desktop. It's not on the menu. Runs fine from the command line. Right clicking on desktop doesn't seem to have what I need. I tried using Dolphin file manager, but still no joy. Can copy, but again can't paste a shortcut on the desktop... or so it seems.

If it is on the menu you can simply drag and drop it on to the desktop. You can also add an application launcher widget to the desktop and drag and drop menu items to it.

If it isn't on the menu you can add it by right clicking on the menu icon and selecting menu editor. Yo can also add keyboard shortcuts using the menu editor.

Here are a couple of more ways...
(At least this works in Mandriva KDE 4.3.2)

You can right-click on the desktop and choose Create New > Link to Application. On the Application tab type in an appropriate Name and for Command put in the path to the executable (example: /usr/bin/opera ). On the General tab, click on the icon under the word General and choose the icon you want.

You can go to the application in the KDE menu, right-click on it and choose "Add to Desktop".

There is no Create New -> Link to Application on the right click on the desktop. That is what I'm missing . Also this application is not in the menu system.

My right click on desktop produces :

kconsole
Run command
add widgets
add panel
lock widgets
lock screen
leave
desktop settings

I solved it by first putting into the menu system. Then from the menu system add it to the desktop. Seems a 'round about way' of doing things though. Thanks all!
