close ssh -X "nice" after using a gui program

Good evening, if i login to my home server with ssh -X, and open close gui program. I cannot exit the shell normaly with ctrl+d.
I think now there to many connection not closed correctly. So now i get the message:

ssh_exchange_identification: Connection closed by remote host

Is there a prober way to close the connection, after using a gui program?

Try using ssh -Y to start the session instead of -X.

Thank you for the reply, i tried it with the -Y flag. Still can't shutdown nicely. Also with both flags -X -Y i get these warnings like gtk.... etc. Maybe i don't use the SSH correctly when opening a gui program.

I'm not an expert with ssh so I don't know the right way. I do know that 5 or so years ago I used -X to start the ssh session and at some point I was having problems. The local linux users group informed me that the ssh default configuration had been changed to favor starting the session with -Y. It would probably be good to read "man ssh_config", but it is just not on my priority list.
