l would like to install " root_cern software " from http://root.cern.ch/drupal/content/d...-version-52504 but when l use ./configure it says to me

Quote:
configure: X11/extensions/shape.h header (xorg-x11-proto-devel) MUST be installed
but l checked l have installed this file by add/remove command, what is the problem?

If there is a tool to help resolve build dependencies when compiling from source code, I don't know what it is. It is the ./configure run that usually lets you know when something needed for a compile is missing. You get your clue what the missing item is by examining the last several lines printed to the console when the ./configure run halted on an error.

Sometimes it takes a bit of detective work to figure out what Fedora package is needed to resolve that issue. In most cases, it will be a *-devel package, but sometimes it's a program. An example of a missing helper program.... a day or two ago I was trying to compile an older source code package. ./configure halted on an error: (paraphrased) checking for working makeinfo...... no

Doing yum whatprovides */makeinfo showed me that I needed the package texinfo installed. Anytime you get an error in ./configure about a missing *.h file, you can be sure you need a *-devel package associated with the error.
