Fedora 12 on HP tx2525nr Installation Report

I am installing Fedora12 on my HP tx2525nr Tablet PC. This is a log containing my thoughts of the process. This post will be updated as I go.

I am currently running the Install to Hard Drive wizard from the LiveCD.

Slow bootup of the LiveCD. This is mostly due to a finicky DVD drive.

Wacom digitizer worked out of the box. This is awesome. I move the stylus near the screen, and the cursor moves in parallel. Clicking works. Right-click function unresponsive. Edit: I've now tried a work-around, but enabling secondary click by holding down primary. I tried this on a desktop icon, and it worked, but it stayed in drag mode afterward, so that the icon followed the mouse.

Synaptics touch pad works for moving the cursor, but tap clicking does not. I have to use the buttons instead. Edit: Tap clicking enabled using System > Preferences > Mouse > Touchpad > "Enable mouse clicks with touchpad". Unfortunately, this only works for the logged in user, it does not apply itself globally. So tap clicking does not work at the login prompt.

I have not found a screen rotate app yet, for when I need to flip the screen and wish to change screen orientation.
Edit: Rotation enabled by going to System > Preferences > Display and enabled "Show displays in panel". By clicking on the icon, you can now rotate the display as needed. Unfortunately, the digitizer calibration will not be way off, so I am still in need of a calibration utility.

Touch screen does not work at all.

No wireless yet.
Edit: Wireless now functional through the broadcom-wl package available through RPMFusion-nonfree .

Power off on shutdown does not work. Laptop must be turned off manually.

Currently Unresolved Problems:
- Touch screen non-functional.
- No power off on shutdown
- No official ATI drivers available.
- No stylus right-click in Desktop. Right-click in Gimp works, though, once configured.

Questions will be posted in this log once installation has been stabilized. Some things are solvable with built-in apps, other issues are require outside apps and help.
