*yawn* Still running my 'perfect' Alpha from day 1. Just gotta get it right the first time.
However, for fun sakes, I'll dump it all and do a fresh install at 'final'. (Also because I dumped the Alpha into a partition that's way too small for my 'final' needs).

Your lucky - I've downloaded it now three times and have never got a good download - our connection is bad or something. CentOS took me a ton of times before I got a good copy which I only managed to do the other day, same with MEPIS - just bad luck!

I managed to get the torrent to work via the Opera browser on a windows 2000 box - about 150 kbs. Later I used bit torrent on a Debian install - same thing, about 150kbs (and Debian also took plenty of tries before I got it). Presently I'm doing it from my F12 install, 30 peers, 135 kbs. The present install, when I tested the disk, failed, but I installed anyway. It ended having some missing package that evolution needs, which is what the original install complained about to (second try it installed). I figured being this is a chaps business, I best make sure its installed correctly!

You have no idea how bad I would love to send money to all sorts of Linux projects, including buying dvd's. Presently I work 70 hours a week and have yet to make $2000 in a month - will have my car repoed next week - buying anything is not much of an option right now.

lol - I'm 395 miles round trip to the nearest Mal-Mart! Here in Ely they think of me as some sort of Linux ambassador with a few folks even thinking I'm paid to promote it because of my passion for the change. I'll get a clean download even if I have to try 15 times!!!! Then I'll make lots and lots and lots of disks!!

Failed again last night - was so bad as to not even be able to get a playable disk out of it! Whats worse, thinking I would be reasonable and a fellow to the cause, I left bit torrent open all night and half of today - I can only hope I didn't spread the bad load to everyone who was attached to me for all those hours!!
I did manage to get a copy of MEPIS after tons of attempts. For the record I liked something on their install that I though I would mention here. In part of the install they have you choose which net connection programs you would like in the form of - Ethernet, dial-up, wireless, etc. where ever one is check on by default leaving it up to the user to unchecked those which they would rather not have. I thought that was pretty cool of them - so, I mention it here for the consideration of the big cheeses : )
