Monitor Not Working

I've installed fedora 11 on my desktop. I have an hp pavilion f1703 monitor.

The problem here, is once it gets past grub, an error appears from the monitor telling me to "change settong to the recommended 1280x1024 @60Hz." When I VNC in from my laptop, I can find that the settings are indeed set that way. When I edited inittab to start up in runlevel 3 so I could at least work on the computer without having to vnc or ssh in, the same thing appears. I know the video card is still working, because grub still shows itself to me. Any ideas on how to get the monitor to work?

Thanks in advance.

When dealing with graphics issues it's always a good idea to at least mention your graphics card model and driver in use.
