Why "Constantine"?

I was recently wondering if there's anything behind the name Constantine, chosen for Fedora 12. I've read that some previous versions were named Moonshine, Werewolf, Sulphur, Cambridge and Leonidas. The former 4 seem to have been named kinda randomly, since the words are common, so I don't think there are many interesting things to say about them. Leonidas, though, was a king, and we (mostly) all know who he was.

But what about Constantine? I know about the byzantine Emperor Constantine, but I'm not quite sure Fedora 12 was given his name specifically. Does it reference another Constantine?

All the best!

Aw cripes, now you've given the upcoming names away! Those were supposed to be kept secret.

Funny that the Ubuntu folk generally refer to the release name, while Fedora folk almost never reference it and just use the number.

Maybe we're more pragmatic? All that extra typing for 'jaunty jackalope' or 'hardy heron' or whatever the other ones are. Those are the only 2 I can remember. Typing F11 or 10, 12 whatever is MUCH easier on the fingers!

I believe it'll be shortly after they create / open the topic folder for F13 Rawhide; which will be either just before or just after F12 is released. As I recall for F12 they started a topic asking for suggestions and then there was a vote taken.

I agree, Ubuntu has the worst codenames I have ever seen. I like the name constantine, and Fedora 12 has pretty good artwork. Ubuntu's theme reminds me of feces. Just use fedora people!
