Skype takes over all sound

Yesterday i did a fresh install of Fedora 11 x86_64. The problem i have is with skype. I installed the latest version (2.1.0.47) and it seems to work fine unless there is another application producing sound. In this case whenever skype has to produce sound it stops the other application and takes over the entire hardware. For example if i have rhythmbox playing a song and skype staying idle and if someone logs in rhythmbox stops playing the song until the login sound from skype is over and then resumes.

EDIT
I forgot to mention that i have this audio card:
00:1b.0 Audio device: Intel Corporation 82801H (ICH8 Family) HD Audio Controller (rev 03)

Also my Fedora installation is fully updated.
