Date format by the clock.

I like to have the date by the clock. Currently it says "Mon 4 Oct" is it possible to change it to 04/10/2004?

Thanks.

Right Click on it and then something like preferences of Date and Time ( I have a translation, so I can't say the exact name)

I hope you mean GRUB.

There is "adjust date/time" and "preferences". Preferences just lists the clock type, 24h, 12h, show seconds, show date. It does not allow me to modify the date format. In adjust date/time i can set the date and the time, not the way it's laid out.

oh and i'm using Gnome, i know the clock is different in KDE.
