logitech quickcam messenger not detected

logitech quickcam messenger not detected by fedora 10 x64.

i've checked the rpmfusion & livna repo's in hopes of finding kmod-gspca, but there is none.

is there any way to get logitech quickcam messenger to work in fedora 10 or 11? or is this webcam unsupported?

also, why is there no kmod-gspca for fedora 10 & 11? gspca page clearly lists this webcam as supported...

is gspca not used any more in fedora 10 & above?

do i perhaps need to recompile the kernel enabling some special options / modules to get this webcam working?

ps the wierd problem is, the webcam is detected:

lsusb
Bus 002 Device 005: ID 046d:08f6 Logitech, Inc. QuickCam Messenger Plus

but v4l2-tool, cheese & skype don't see it...

so it doesn;t appear to work???

if you want to have a webcam that works with skype then it is time to walk to a store and by a UVC webcam. Here is a quite good list of compatible devices: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/SkypeWebCams.
My old Logitech quickcam messenger is working with Cheese but not with skype because of that.

yeah, i checked the list of "tested" webcams here
here is something interesting

Also see here for cams which are supported by gspca and their testing status with the new cleaned up gspcav2

so my cam should be supported right?
zc3xx 046d:08da Logitech QuickCam Messenger hv7131r OK

the only "slight difference" is that GSPCA lists ID 046d:08da
this webcam has 046d:08f6 , so its a little newer

local stores have no webcams which are supported grrrrrrrrrrr

Nope, different usb id --> different model.
