you may want to check there isn't a firewall running??

do..
Code:
[root@localhost ~]# service iptables status
Table: filter
Chain INPUT (policy ACCEPT)
num target prot opt source destination

Chain FORWARD (policy ACCEPT)
num target prot opt source destination

Chain OUTPUT (policy ACCEPT)
num target prot opt source destination

[root@localhost ~]#
if you see something like the above then its not runing, if you see stuff in there then you probably have firewalls rules set

try...

Code:
[root@localhost ~]# service iptables stop
iptables: Flushing firewall rules: [ OK ]
iptables: Setting chains to policy ACCEPT: filter [ OK ]
iptables: Unloading modules: [ OK ]
[root@localhost ~]#
then try again
