Yum update error: Error: Package tuple (...) not found in packagesack

Yum is giving me the following error since yesterday:
Code:
# yum update
Loaded plugins: allowdowngrade, fastestmirror, presto, protectbase, refresh-
              : packagekit, versionlock
Loading mirror speeds from cached hostfile
...
1 packages excluded due to repository protections
Setting up Update Process
Error: Package tuple (u'kernel', 'x86_64', u'0', u'2.6.30.8', u'64.fc11') could not be found in packagesack
The weird thing, apart from the above error, is that yum is trying to update my kernel-devel and kernel-headers packages, even if I locked their versions to 2.6.29.something because kernel 2.6.30 gave me some specific issues. The version lock has been working without problems for at least 2 months, but now Fedora suddenly wants to update these packages...

Try cleaning YUM cache and re-try.

I don't know about protectbase, I didn't install it so I guessed it came by default. About versionlock, I was using it because I needed to lock the kernel version (kernel 2.30 is giving me some trouble as I explained in the original post). Anyway, I ran yum update with no plugins enabled and it worked. This means kernel 2.30.8-64 was installed, so I'm going to give it a try.

I did what I mentioned in my last post, yum worked ok now, but kernel 2.6.30 is still not good for me (I cannot use my ethernet with it, which is a different story). I removed the 2.6.30 kernel packages, booted back with my 2.6.29 kernel, did yum update, and got the weird message again...

The correct way to keep the kernel, or any other package(s) from updating is to add them to the exclude= line in the /etc/yum.conf file. If the exclude= entry isn't there, just add it.

exclude=kernel*

Use a space to separate additional entries.

Thanks! That does it... And it's much easier than using versionlock.

Re: Yum update error: Error: Package tuple (...) not found in packagesack

I am getting tuple not found in package error when trying to upgrade 12 to 13 or 14. Faults on kernel for 12. already tried cleaning cache and updating. I tried preupdate and using disk to update all fail with the same error. can not find log entry only happens on update.
