Question How to change preferred applications ?

Hi all , i wanted to know how to change the default applications ? e.g when i double click a pdf or an mp3 or so ? Thanks in advance

Wow, an easy one I can answer.

Open a folder with a file similar to the one you want to set the preferred application -- i.e. pdf or text or html, etc. and then right click on the file; select properties, then click on the 'open with' tab and you can select one of the applications listed. It says to 'open file.pdf and others like it '... Hopefully the application you prefer is listed, if not you can add. Then close, and it'll save your preference.

I found that when F11 was opening text files with AbiWord and I prefer Gedit.

You're welcome... I'm not actually a 'dude' but a 'dude-ette'

(unless you mean 'dude' in the generic sense, like I call men or women 'guys' sometimes, maybe from having grown up on the USA east coast -- I watch Simply Ming and he says 'guys' a lot when he tells people how to do things. It's a cooking show!)

Might I also note that there is a Preferred Applications GUI for web-browsers, email, and audio/video files in the Preferences Menu.

@CiaW : Je m'excuse mademousille nope , i didnt mean the generic sense Thanks dudette I've heard of simply ming but i havent watched it , note that Im from Egypt =))

@Trann : Yeah I found it but as you said its not for all types of appications
