loging initial boot output

my dumb questions of the day:

the man pages for logsave say that it is useful for saving the output of boot scripts before /var/log is mounted because the output is saved in memory until it can be written out. but there is now example of this.

how and where do you add the logsave command to save all the text that flashes by at boot time can be saved where you can read it cut and paste error message to forms etc.

I don't have an answer to your logsave question but I do have an alternative way to capture early boot messages. You can set up a serial console using a kernel command line parameter and that will direct the messages out the serial port, which can be sent to another computer through a null modem cable and captured in a serial terminal program.
