You know I can't understand why people actually LIKE the windows 2000 look it was always horrible, that pathetic color gradient thing never looked nice at all. Most of his complaints seemed to be centred around the look and feel of the OS not its total lack of security which is the real problem quite frankly. I for one happen to think XP is look is one of the best out there, just can't see what's so good about win2k's look..But I do agree with his general sentiment although I am less sad and more indignant.

You must be a desktop user. The windows xp look doesn't really screem "hacker". It's closer to "careless consumer," The windows 2000 look was very crude, yes, but it was lightweight.

Indignant. I was furious with the total lack of usuablity due to the constant pop-ups and the slow as a sloth performance. I had to deal with this issue again today, and if it happens one more time, say good by xp

Well the tooltips XP has actually prove to be useful to me, anyway. Although I am often tempted to disable the tooltips entirely as I pretty much have other ways of knowing when something goes wrong. Its funny that you say that since I personally dislike Gnome and KDE and do prefer Flux over everything else, and that is pretty lightweight. I'll have to compile it tonight since I just reformatted and did a fresh fc3t2 install. (I won't have much chance to mess around with it once I get my hands on MK deception in a few hours I hope.)

Windows 2000's look wasn't bloated in the slightest and seemed pretty easy to understand as far as things went. Security wise, I was running it for two years and was able to keep my computer secure, unhacked and was able to set up most of the security stuff that I wanted to without having to look for answers online. After getting rid of Windows 2000 to put Fedora Core 2 on my PC, I've found a lot of stuff about XP's security that I didn't know about. I've done what I can to secure my parents' computers (2000 and XP) and I'm able to keep them out of trouble with security breaches.

If you want something pretty for 2000, install Litestep or Talisman. Windows 2000 was a good operating system, and I'll be damned if anyone's going to tell me otherwise.

Edit: OK, I'll concede that mixing Internet Explorer and explorer.exe together was a bad mistake, but it must have seemed like a good idea at the time.

It always seems like a good money making at the expense of the users idea at the time until your users start looking into competing solutions

Yeah, because Microsoft integrated the file manager and the web browser purely to make more money out of people. I'm sure that they was going to deploy an ActiveX plugin with the MSN toolbar that would scour your hard drive for credit card details, download them all and then detonate your computer in order to cover its tracks.

That's just the sort of thing that the evil multi-national corporate pigs at miKKKro$h!t would do, isn't it?

Actually, yes if it were legal. They would call it a feature. Instead of having to input that long credit card number over and over again, windows would do it for you. Think of the possibilities

Of course not, he's much to rich to waste his time on babies unless by baby you're refering to the computer knowledge level of windows users
