Fedora 11 & AHCI

I'm trying to install and eventually create software raid - but installer will not see drives.

So I've spent an hour google'ing and see that 11 can't handle AHCI... from a while back.

Is this still true?

If so, what am I losing by setting my drives to IDE? (I'm concerned more with speed issues than hot-swapping or such)

MSI 975X Platinum mobo, Intel 975X northbridge and Intel ICH7DH southbridge chipsets, plus one JMicron 8361 Serial ATA II/IDE controller (not used).

HDD: Seagate Barracuda 7200.11
