Bootloader help

I had an array of problems which ended up with a "Boot has failed: sleeping forever" message and ended up having to boot into here with a USB stick (Fedora 11 download) . There were 3 separate kernels available before the crash, two fc10s and one fc12. Now clicking on system-admin-bootloader returns an "exception occurred" message saying kudzu doesn't exist. Now I'm afraid to even touch the flash drive much less get into the settings or reboot. I'm logged in as Live System User. Should I just make this a clean install and bite the bullet on whatever I had before the crash?

BTW definite newbie, recklessness did start this but I have gotten to know the terminal well. If there's anything specific you need to see, please let me know and I'll paste it.

What are you biting the bullet on? Can you not rescue any data with your live USB stick? If it were me I would pull my data out and just start over. This time do a manual partition and create a separate /data partition for your personal goods. Then the OS becomes expendable.

I simply don't know where to start with something like this, with so many errors this past week. I got into the mess by blindly operating things so I don't want to screw this one up, not this far. When it finally booted into this, there was a blue screen with Fedora written on it and giving me 10 seconds before it booted up. An online guide described a screen with various options including rescue if you hit "R". Mine had nothing and I'm afraid to do anything---I simply don't have a step 1.
