Dear friends,
I am in sweden now and bought a "COMVIQ" usb modem to surf net from home. but cannot connect. I have done lsusb, usb_modswitch etc and result is shown below. I don't use NetworkManager, so if someone tell me how to establish the network, I will be highly obliged.

This is a mobile broadband modem, I use the same. I would recommend using Network Manager as it normally sets up automatically for you. Has worked for me since F9.

When connecting to mobile broadband the username and password are usually something standard. It will depend on you mobile network. This page may help http://www.quickim.com/support/gprs-settings.html.

If you do want to avoid NetworkManager, then this guide I wrote may help http://www.trigpoint.me.uk/3GModemConfig.

I would however second ozjd comments and try to get it working with NetworkManager, try a Fedora 11 live CD or USB to get back to defaults. Faulty settings can get stuck, as I found when I tried my brother in laws vodafone dongle in place of my T-Mobile N95.

Getting Mobile Broadband to work for me has always been.
1. Connect device and allow NetworkManager to detect it.
2. Attempt to connect, it will fail, but will will create the connection to edit.
3. Edit the connection, I have only ever needed Number, Username, Password and APN.

Trigpoint's suggestions are good.

I've found I don't need to enter anything in NM. The default setup works for me. Following Trigpoint's 3 points I get 1. the same then 2 it works.

On a side issue F12 will have a more detailed setup where you can select your device and provider and it will enter all the correct details. Worth looking forward to.
