Create shortcut to Wine prog on Desktop

Hi!
I'm sorry if this is an extremely noobish question to ask, but how do I create a shortcut to a Wine program on the Desktop?

Thanks!

I assume you're running Gnome, so just right click on the desktop, click "Create Launcher", and enter in the details of the program you're trying to launch. Should work to just copy in the same command line that you use to launch the program from the shell. You might have to use full pathnames to the command and any files it references.

Thanks for the quick reply, but I'm still confused.
Should I set it as an Application, an Application in Terminal, or a Location?
Should I just do

wine "C:\Program Files\Macromedia\Dreamweaver MX 2004\Dreamweaver.exe"?

I've tried that, but it doesn't work. A terminal window sometimes pops up, then disappears promptly.

Hello yanjchan,

You have to escape those spaces and backslashes with a backslash character. Like this example copied from a launcher on my panel...
Code:
wine c:\\Program\ Files\\ps\\Password\ Safe.exe

Unfortunately, the problems continue

I get no reply when using it in a launcher, and in terminal I get;

"Wine could not find blah blah blah" (or something along the lines of that)

However, it works fine if I become su then cd to ~root/.wine/drive_c/Program Files/Macromedia/Dreamweaver MX 2004, then do wine Dreamweaver.exe.

Well, the thing is very syntax sensitive. Try this one that I copied from your earlier post and and inserted the escapes...
Code:
wine c:\\Program\ Files\\Macromedia\\Dreamweaver\ MX\ 2004\\Dreamweaver.exe
P.S.: You have the .wine folder in your root folder. I have mine in my home folder. You may have to add sudo or su -c to yours to get it to go.

Unfortunately, even adding su - c to your text doesn't work

How could I situate the .wine folder in my home folder? Maybe it would work then.

Thanks

Trying to load PE image for unsupported architecture (I386)

(It really said it twice.)

Help?

Thanks.

This is my solution:

1. Install Dreamweaver (or whatever program) OUTSIDE of su ( I accidentally did )
2. Blah blah blah.
3. If it still hasn't appeared in your Applications -> Wine -> Programs thing, you can create a shortcut using something like this:
env WINEPREFIX="/home/jonathan/.wine" wine "C:\Program Files\Macromedia\Dreamweaver MX 2004\Dreamweaver.exe"

Yay!

Thanks to all who helped
